Standards-based auditing is a specialized
reporting tool designed to facilitate audit preparation. By loading industry (e.g. ISO 9000, GFSI, etc.) and/or customer standards into your Qualtrax system and associating documents and workflows with particular requirements, it is possible to run a gap analysis to identify holes.
For example, in the ISO 9001:2008 standard, requirement 7.4.3 specifies that a registered company must provide customers with "Verification of Purchased Product." In running an audit of this standard, a quality manager could quickly see if such documentation exists and is labeled properly.
